How To Start Your Blog For
Less Than The Price of A Bagel

Are you passionate about a certain topic and want to share it with others? Do you want to get a small business up and running and put it online? Or do you want to make extra, passive income on the side while you travel the world?

Well... Blogging could be your answer!

NOTE: Assume anything that is a third party thats on my site, I am most likely affiliated with... meaning I will make money in some way if you purchase products through my blog or recommendations... I am attempting to make a living through this blog by sharing companies that I 100% believe in.... wish me luck!) :D

Blogs are not just for the “professional writer” they are for the dreamers, travelers, mothers and business owners.. People with a passion to do more of what they love.

Back in 2015 I had quit my job as an assistant / working for Uber to pursue a life of full-time travel while I made an income through my blog. Well.. I failed a lot in the beginning but through that failure I finally figured it out. And thats what this course is offering - the ability to learn how to be successful and make money online.

Unfortunately, while I do my best to inspire and encourage others to go out and pursue their dreams, many give up as the “setup process” seems too complex for them.

But its not. Below I have outlined an easy step-by-step guide to getting a domain, setting up hosting, and installing WordPress in 10 minutes or less.

There are many ways to set up a blog but you will have best control using a self-hosted WordPress blog. This is what most serious bloggers use, and what is built on.

NOTE: The first step for setting up a blog is buying a domain and setting up hosting. If you are not sure about the difference between hosted and self-hosted WordPress, I found this helpful infographic that explains it well. My verdict… stay away from It’s limiting and does not allow your blog to scale well.

1. Getting A Paid Hosting Account (don’t worry this will be cheap)

2. Buying A Domain Name (Domain Name is what you call a web address i.e. or .net / .co / .info)

3. Setting Up Hosting

4. Installing Squarespace Template

5. How To Install A Theme

The domain name of my blog is That’s where people find me on the web and is the HUB of my business. Choosing a good domain can be tough. Your domain can either be your name or a branded domain like mine. Luckily, the hosting company I will recommend in step #2 provides you the ability to buy a domain for $11.99 (or less - which is supper cheap) when you sign up.

This is where your blog will “live.” This is a server in the cloud (i.e., a remote computer), where you will rent space to install the Squarespace software and manage your blog. It’s far easier than it sounds.. Stick with me. There are a hundreds of hosting services available. However, based on my experience and research, I recommend GoDaddy. I believe it is the best option for most people for the following several reasons:

1. GoDaddy is large and well known.

2. They offer excellent customer service (located in the US).

3. Their packages are highly affordable. If you sign up with the link below, I’ve actually locked my readers a under $5 per month fee + a free domain! That’s the price of a bagel where i’m from.

4. Their service provides extremely fast page load times.

5. GoDaddy is very easy to use.

ACTION STEP: Click HERE to buy your domain and signup for hosting with GoDaddy. I have provided a visual guide of the steps below.

GoDaddy STEP #1

Visit This Link (the same as the one above) and in the search field, begin searching for a domain name that you want to use. Your domain name is what people type into the web browser to find your site..

For example, my domain name is

Part 2 - Squarespace

Now is where its going to get fun! Squarespace is where you will connect your domain name to so you can build your website.

It's supper easy. Head on over to Squarespace by clicking here.

Squarespace STEP #1

Once you are on Squarespace's home page, click "Get Started"

Squarespace STEP #2

Then you will arrive at the next page where you will be prompted to choose a template.

This may take some time. Go through the templates and preview them before you commit to choosing one.

This is the basics of how your site will function. Make sure to pay attention to key things like how the blog page is set up and also to the main navigation (this is your "Home" "About" "Services" "Contact" area).

Squarespace STEP #3

Once you have chosen your theme for your site - now you can begin building your website as you like. You will start out with a 7 day free trial before they prompt you to upgrade - of which its as low as $12/ month depending on what options you prefer.

I would start out with the bare minimum to start out.

Squarespace STEP #4

Now its time to connect your domain (from GoDaddy) to Squarespace!

Its simple. From your home navigation page, click on "Settings"

Then You will see the next display of options. Click "Domains"

Click Settings

Click Domains

Then you will see an option that says " Connect to a Third Party Domain" Click that.

A Drop down menu will appear and click on "GoDaddy"

Once you do this a pop up window will show up on your screen requesting access to connect squarespace and GoDaddy together. Say yes and approve this flow.

Squarespace STEP #5

Awesome! You are well on your way to having your blog up and running.

Now the connection process can take up to 24 hours - depending on many factors. So let it do its thing and come by in about 24 hours.

Squarespace STEP #6
